We were lucky to encounter several Malayan Night Herons during our travels on 22nd March namely the Huisan Forest Area and the Endemic Species Research Institute. Given the number of photos I took I decided to do a post solely on the species here. Most of the birds in the vicinity of the car parks and tourist areas were well habituated to humans and were seen at close quarters. A female was seen incubating on a nest at the Research Institute beside one of the trails. They were usually seen feeding under trees amongst the dry leaf litter. They didn't seem to be associated with water at all.
